The World's Fair in Detroit Michigan
This is a conceptual view into the creation of a World’s Fair in Detroit, Michigan. It is a place to generate ideas from a desire to bring the World’s Fair back to the United States. Its sole purpose is to explore the possibility of such a fair and the concept of how it might come about. This has not been sanctioned by any governing body nor is it an attempt to raise money for any cause. It is merely a developing idea that is fleshed out point by point. This work of pure fantasy is designed to stimulate discussion and inspire action. The author has no experience in designing World’s Fairs and does not represent any organization or association associated with the Bureau International des Expositions (which is the official organization of World’s Fairs).
Technology is always changing our lives. We need a single showcase where technology from every industry, every discipline can be displayed.
To build the Detroit World's Fair will take the cooperative effort of the best and brightest minds in the world of architecture, business and government. The World's Fairs have always been a showcase of the future.
Hollywood often paints the future as a dystopian place where industry and society have regressed, but in the history of mankind, hardship has always given way to new eras of prosperity and growth.

The solution has always been in technological development. We are in one of the fastest periods of technological growth the world has ever seen. New technologies are constantly changing every facet of our lives yet many don't have the luxury or the time to investigate all of the areas where technological improvement will influence them. A World's Fair is that place. It is a center of technological exposition that covers a myriad of topics from all over the World; all in one place. It is the promise of the good of society working together to benefit mankind and demonstrate the promise of triumph over the current world situation. To bring this about will require the comined efforts of many people from all disciplines. These people are considered visionaries, artists and futurisits. They look beyond the now to the next thing coming. Thier vision will be needed to pull all of the concepts and designs into a cohesive unit to build the Fair.
This website is a call to participate and begin that effort.
One of the fallicies of World's Fairs is that they are temporary exhibits. This doesn' t have to be the case. The Detroit World's fair is a place of futuristic design that works together to create a cohesive framework that's both beautiful and functional. The Fair is designed from the very beginning to be a permanent installation.
Long after the fair is gone, the buildings, structures and common areas will live on, repurposed as a business incubator, convention center, hospital, shopping mall, food court, theater, auditorium, school, park and power station. The effort and cost to build the Fair will continue to benefit the City of Detroit for decades to come.
